My annual article, 52 Restaurants for your Bucket List, was originally created to provide readers with an easy way to explore the wealth of restaurants in the Milwaukee scene over the course of one year (52 weeks). Today, as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, it provides a fun and equally compelling guide for folks who’d like to bring variety to their weekly meals while providing vital support to some of our finest local restaurants.

Here's the featured restaurant of the day, plus five dishes to try!

Goodkind
2457 S. Wentworth Ave., (414) 763-4706

Restaurants with a friendly, welcoming vibe tend to make the top of everyone’s list. And such it is with Goodkind where the people are as delightful as the fare. And that comes through even with the restaurant's curbside and window-side pick-up, which is executed with care and tastes as delicious as ever.

Goodkind is currently offering curbside on Monday and Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m. and brunch pick-up on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t forget to grab a great brew or cocktail to go along with your meal!

Five dishes to try:

  1. Champagne battered oyster mushrooms: dredged, fried and tossed in honey vinaigrette with piquillo peppers, kohlrabi and parsley ($13).
  2. Tuesday night burger: the burger changes every week, but the deliciousness doesn’t. This week it's a dry-aged beef patty topped with saffron spicy Fairy Tale eggplant, Hungarian peppers, Blakesville Creamery feta, roasted garlic-tomato chutney and fried arugula ($13).
  3. Spicy crab pasta: this dish is a favorite for good reason, comprised of house bucatini pasta tossed with San Marzano tomato ragu, basil oil, ghost pepper pepperoni, dungeness crab & chopped rapini, $20 (watch for it on Mondays).
  4. Rotisserie chicken and roasted vegetables: half of a dry brined rotisserie chicken seasoned with fennel pollan and served with rotisserie roasted red potatoes and seasonal veggies and drizzled with a marigold vinaigrette, $23.
  5. I’m still waiting to catch an appearance of their Basque cake, an almond flavored gem that’s among my favorite desserts in the city. If you spy it, scoop it up!

Bonus: Don’t sleep on their brunch menu, which features classic brunch fare along with any number of surprises (like fried chicken, wings and more fun options) and a great collection of brunch drinks. Get a peep at all the latest (and past) goods on their Instagram feed.
