As we speak, Andrew Zimmern -- four-time James Beard-award-winner, host of Travel Channel’s "Bizarre Foods" franchise, "Andrew Zimmern’s Driven by Food," "The Zimmern List" and Food Network’s "Big Food Truck Tip" – is at Lakefront Brewery, 1872 N. Commerce St., enjoying a special Wednesday night fish fry.
The experience – which features a fish fry, music from the Brewhaus Polka Kings, and undoubtedly some Lakefront brews – will comprise at least a portion of content for an episode in an upcoming television series.
But Zimmern’s been busy since arriving in Milwaukee yesterday. In fact, if social media is any indication, he’s been loading up on a variety of fun things in the Cream City.
Here’s where he’s been.
On the lake
That's a pretty nice view of the city, if we do say so ourselves.
Lunching at Cafe Calatrava
That's intel from the Executive Sous Chef at Cafe Calatrava.
Loving the food at Damascus Gate
I'm personally so very pleased he found one of the city's true gems.
Lunching at Mader's
Making the rounds at the Milwaukee Public Market
Earlier today, he also spent some time at the Milwaukee Public Market where he is said to have enjoyed a cortado from Anodyne Coffee Roasters, was spied at the ordering counter of Thainamite and made a stop at the West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shoppe.
Lori is an avid cook whose accrual of condiments and spices is rivaled only by her cookbook collection. Her passion for the culinary industry was birthed while balancing A&W root beer mugs as a teenage carhop, fed by insatiable curiosity and fueled by the people whose stories entwine with each and every dish. She’s had the privilege of chronicling these tales via numerous media, including OnMilwaukee and in her book “Milwaukee Food.” Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or recording the FoodCrush podcast, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
