We swear: Summer is starting soon. And with it, a whole bunch of free live summer music series such as Ayre in the Square, the monthly Third Ward concert night returning for four nights of local music in 2023.

Hosted across four Saturday nights – May 20, June 17, July 22 and Aug. 26 – in Catalano Square, Ayre in the Square will feature three or four music acts each evening in the Third Ward green space, found on East Menomonee Street across from Club Charlie's and the former Bavette La Boucherie. Food and beer will also be available for purchase during the four live music nights thanks to nearby restaurants and vendors, though outside food and snacks are allowed as well.

"Ayre In The Square has sort of been a hidden gem over the past decade or so," said co-organizer Allen Halas. "The park is tucked into the Historic Third Ward, but the music starts and people start filing in, it can make for an unforgettable atmosphere to take in some great Milwaukee music."

Here's the lineup of music coming to Ayre in the Square this summer:

  • Saturday, May 20 – The Nile Club, Elephonic, Jonny T-Bird & the MPs and Cozy Danger
  • Saturday, June 17 – Okay Omen, Clementine, Erin Krebs and Ben Wagner
  • Saturday, July 22 – Colorblind Chameleon, Chris Haise Band, Mark Waldoch and Mark Soriano
  • Saturday, Aug. 26 – Funk Summit Bass Team, The Aimless Blades and Conscious Congress

The four free Ayre in the Square music nights will take place from 4-8 p.m. For more information on the free summer live music series, visit Catalano Square's website. And for the rest of the Milwaukee live music and concert news and announcements, click here

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
