’Tis Dining Month, the tastiest time of year! This means we’re dishing up fun and fascinating food content throughout October. Dig in, Milwaukee! OnMilwaukee Dining Month is served up by Educators Credit Union and Potawatomi Casino Hotel.
National Cheese Curd Day is coming up on Oct. 15, and there's no one more qualified than Lakefront Brewery, 1872 N. Commerce St. to pull out all the stops for the occasion.
After all, it's estimated that Lakefront churns out an average of one thousand pounds of crispy breaded Clock Shadow Creamery cheese curds every week. They are also steadfast celebrators of Curdsday (most people call it Thursday) when they debut the craziest cheese curd flavors they can muster (and they've done it all, from maple bacon to blueberry cobbler).
On Sunday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., they’re giving Milwaukeeans the opportunity to celebrate the cheesiest day of the year with a very special menu featuring two of their favorite Curdsday selections.
Wondering what cheesy delights they have in store? You’re in luck. We’ve got the menu right here.
- The Original: You can't go wrong with their award-winning beer-battered and fried cheese curds with garlic ranch dipping sauce.
- Cookies N’ Cream: Cheese curds in chocolate cookie batter, tossed in chocolate cookie breading, deep fried to sweet perfection then drizzled with vanilla icing and powered sugar.
- Street Corn: Cheese curds in a beer and cornmeal batter, tossed in panko, hot cheese curl and flour breading, deep fried and served with chile lime sauce, parmesan cheese and cilantro.
For those who can't partake in traditional battered curds, Lakefront will also be serving gluten-free cheese curds out of their CurdWagon. And because it wouldn’t be a proper cheese curd party without some poutine, expect to find their classic poutine (seasoned fries topped with fresh curds and brown gravy) as well as a rendition of poutine presented in the form of a quesadilla.
Give it your best pull
But that's not all. Lakefront will also be hosting a cheese curd pull competition.
A cheese pull competition will be held every hour on the hour from noon to 4 p.m. It's free to enter and the rules are pretty easy:
"Think you have an eye for the stretchiest curd of the bunch? Team up with a friend, choose your curd, pony up to the pull markers, and test your dexterity."
The longest pull from each competition will take home two six-packs of Lakefront Brewery beer.
