The Dave Matthews Band returned to the big stage at the Big Gig on Thursday night, as part of their massive headlining tour. Treating fans to a one-of-a-kind set consisting of 21 songs – including tracks like “Ants Marching," “Virginia in the Rain” and more – fans packed the American Family Insurance Amphitheater to enjoy the sounds from the legendary jam band.
Check our some of our favorite images from Dave Matthews’ Thursday night performance at Summerfest to kick off weekend two:
1. Hitting all the notes
The only thing belting out Dave’s songs was the man himself, as he made sure to hit all the notes throughout the night for his Wisconsin fans and for those who traveled all across the country to enjoy the performance.
2. Packed house
When festival organizers want a sure-fire act to fill the room, DMB is always a safe choice to get butts in seats. Thursday night was no exception.
3. Local fan hits the century mark
Dave superfan Justin Sterna poses with friends to celebrate his 100th Dave Matthews Band show – and just a few miles from home in Mequon after traveling the country to various DMB shows earlier this year.
4. Timbo
Dave Matthews’ literal right hand man, Tim Reynolds, delivered as always throughout the 21-song set on Thursday night.
5. Unmatched duo
There aren’t many duos more legendary than Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, and along with the rest of the band, Dave and Tim put on a show that their Wisconsin fans won’t soon forget.
6. "Ants Marching"
While “Ants Marching” is a must-hear for the most casual Dave fan, it’s certainly not guaranteed to make the setlist – so to the delight of many, Dave raised eyebrows on Thursday by including the song for the band’s Summerfest performance.
