Apartment Guide blogger Brian Carberry has compiled a list of the five most popular neighborhoods in Milwaukee for renters, and the results are not terribly surprising.
They are, in order:
- Downtown
- Lower East Side
- Walker’s Point
- Third Ward
- Yankee Hill
Most glaringly absent? Bay View, for one. The East Side for another. Perhaps a little more surprising is the accompanying average rents data that Carberry provides.
Average Milwaukee rent for a one-bedroom is $1,550; for a two-bedroom, it’s $2,568.
Rents in the Third Ward exceed those numbers. A one-bedroom just south of the I-794 spur will run you an average of $1,884, and two-bedrooms go for a whopping $3,310.
In Yankee Hill and the Lower East Side, rents average lower than the overall area rate, at $938 and $1,625; and $1,472 and $2,268.
Rents are more mixed Downtown and in Walker’s Point. In the former, one-bedrooms check in at about $13 under the area average, while two-bedroom units run $133 above. The reverse is true in Walker’s Point where one-bedroom apartments average $214 above the area rate but two-bedrooms clock in at $557 below the area average.
