The Harley-Davidson Museum, 400 W. Canal St., is packed with so much interesting stuff: not only incredible bikes but also vintage photographs, memorabilia, clothing and more. And you don't have to be a hog fiend to enjoy it. The gift shop there is incredible, too.
Similarly, Harley-Davidson is so rooted in Milwaukee’s history and culture that you don’t have to ride to rock the H-D gear with pride.
With the holidays just up around the bend, zoom into The Shop at the museum to find an array of Harley-Davidson gear unlike what you’ll find anywhere else and at every price point. Best of all, the museum shop is full of gear that’s unique to the museum, some of it based on original vintage Harley-Davidson clothing that’s on display in the galleries.
The museum store also offers free gift wrapping to make the ride even smoother.
Here are some gems:
Originals Men’s Wool Cardigan
Before the leather jacket, the wool cardigan was worn for protection. This high-quality vintage gem is a reproduction of an item in the 1920 P & A catalog. Thanks to the copious records kept by Harley-Davidson, it is made in the USA by the same manufacturer on the same early 20th century looms, and with the same zipper, again, from the same supplier, as the original.
Originals Men’s Black Moto Sweater
This vintage item – a favorite of Jason Momoa – was worn by motorcycle clubs/enthusiasts of the 1940s. Just as the cardigan, it’s made in the USA with the same materials often by the same manufacturers and suppliers as the original with felt letters that are hand applied.
1949 Service Jacket
These cool, machine washable jackets were first released by Harley-Davidson in 1949 as a summer item and quickly became popular among clubs, which would emblazon their logos on the back. Although they disappeared from the catalog in 1957, they're back now! Made in the USA.
Originals Women’s Sweater
This is a women’s interpretation of the wool race jersey (below right), but with softer wool for maximum comfort. Made in the USA.
Women’s Jacket with fur collar
This is the summer version of the Cycle Queen Jacket from the 1950s catalogs, made in the USA with nylon (above left). Folks could order the optional fur collar trim that is also available for this jacket.
Kids Hoodie
A Harley-Davidson hoodie in Packers colors, come on now? Almost every Wisconsin kid would want one of these.
Ampal Creative® Caps
Ampal Creative® products, made in the USA, are found in better men’s boutiques, and these caps (below) are made in small batches in California. These are new to The Shop and they are H-D Museum exclusives.
Zippo® Lighters
Classic Zippo® lighters in several different styles (above) are exclusive to the museum!
Milwaukee gems
In addition to Harley-Davidson-branded gear, the shop also carries a variety of area-made gems, including Beardsconsin products, Colectivo Coffee, Indulgence Chocolates, Milwaukee Candle Company candles and more!
Harley-Davidson Museum Annual Pass
The annual pass gets you half off admission, merch discounts in the gift shop, dining discounts at MOTOR Bar & Restaurant, free admission for kids under 18 and virtual gallery talks.
