The Hop will host what it calls its inaugural -- suggesting there will be more -- Hops and Stops streetcar pub crawl on Saturday, April 4 from noon until 5 p.m.
Eight Downtown bars and restaurants along the streetcar route will offer specials on food and drinks spotlighting Wisconsin craft breweries in an event sponsored by Beechwood Sales and Service, a Wisconsin wholesale beverage distributor.
Participating bars and restaurants include Café Benelux, County Clare, East Town Kitchen and Bar, My Office, Oak & Shield Gaming Pub, St. Paul Fish Company Tiki Bar, The Wicked Hop and Y-Not II Tavern.
Specials include deals like $4 Third Space Happy Place ales at The Wicked Hop and $4 Good City pints at the Y-Not. A complete list of food and beverage specials is at hopsandstops.com.
Riders can grab a passport at one of the stops and collect stamps at each venue -- plus one on The Hop -- to be entered into a contest for prize packages.
One of the five streetcars debuted a new design with a foamy head of beer and the logos of participating breweries -- 3 Sheeps, Central Waters, Good City, Hinterland, Milwaukee Brewing, New Glarus and Third Space -- today. The design will remain through the April 4 event.
"This partnership is a fantastic opportunity for us to introduce streetcar riders to the outstanding Downtown bars and Wisconsin craft breweries that make our city special while also bringing a new audience on board The Hop to learn how easy it is to connect with great Downtown entertainment destinations via the streetcar," said Dave Cartwright, director of sales and marketing at Beechwood.
"We’re looking forward to a fun afternoon on board The Hop and in many of our great partner bars and restaurants along the route."
