I have known Jayne Marjorie Korth for a few years now but only recently met her in person. Jayne was a faithful listener to the morning radio show I co-hosted. I would answer emails as part of my duties and Jayne was actively in contact with the show.
Jayne, a former truck driver, revealed her transgender status in an attempt to clarify some issues on the topic. We also became personal Facebook friends.
I met Jayne just recently during a TV appearance and I recognized her immediately from her Facebook pictures. We talked and set up a lunch date.
We met for lunch a few weeks later and talked at great length about her transition and her story. During our conversation, Jayne made it clear that she wanted her story told but was unclear the path to take to make that happen. But I had an idea: Jayne, OnMilwaukee Publisher Andy Tarnoff and I set a date for the video interview at Hamburger Mary’s in Bay View.
I wanted to help Jayne because of the importance of this issue in today's world, especially as June is Gay Pride month. There is so much fear and misunderstanding, and this one person’s story shows how difficult but necessary the transition is for so many people.
For Jayne, it is the road to happiness and that's all it is. Jayne wanted to be able to live the life that she feels is her true self. I just gave her story a voice. I truly admire the strength and courage she has displayed on her journey.
