Snuggle up with some holiday cheer as OnMilwaukee shares stories of everything merry and bright in the spirit of the season.
The OnMilwaukee Ho Ho Holiday Guide is brought to you by Educators Credit Union, Harley-Davidson Museum and MolsonCoors.
The holiday season has quickly descended upon us, and that means the time is ripe for sharing, caring and spreading joy. It's also the perfect time to consider giving back to the community.
You can do just that this weekend.
Lowlands Group is hosting its annual Chili Weather Coat Drive on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Downer location of Café Hollander, 2608 N. Downer Ave.
During the event, participants can donate winter items including coats and gloves, for women, men and children. For each winter clothing donation, participants will receive a free cup of chili and their choice of a Lowlands Brewing Collaborative Santa Rampage bier or hot cocoa.
All donations made during the 2023 event will benefit the Milwaukee Women’s Center, a division of Community Advocates, which provides comprehensive services and treatment for women, men and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, addiction, mental health issues, homelessness and poverty. For those who cannot attend the event, monetary donations can also be made online.
Lori is an avid cook whose accrual of condiments and spices is rivaled only by her cookbook collection. Her passion for the culinary industry was birthed while balancing A&W root beer mugs as a teenage carhop, fed by insatiable curiosity and fueled by the people whose stories entwine with each and every dish. She’s had the privilege of chronicling these tales via numerous media, including OnMilwaukee and in her book “Milwaukee Food.” Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or recording the FoodCrush podcast, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
