Sept. 22 is going to be a very good day for popcorn lovers.
That's because Milwaukee's own Lush Popcorn will be hosting a weekend-long grand opening celebration for their new Riverwest location at 920 E. Locust St.
That’s the building just across the street from Black Husky Brewing, which was the former home of Klinger’s East.
The celebration, which promises to be an immersive experience for fans old and new, will take place on Friday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free parking is available in the city lot just west of the building, as well as on the surrounding streets.
During the opening, guests will have the opportunity to check out Lush’s new multi-faceted operation, which includes a retail shop, popcorn and lemonade production facility and a tasting room that will feature not only Lush’s famous flavored popcorn – which comes in flavors from white chocolate and maple bourbon pecan to chipotle cheddar and CBD-infused strawberry love – but also signature cocktails and snacks.
Festivities are open to the public and will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Cavalier Johnson on Sept. 22 at 11a.m. as well as the new location’s inaugural happy hour, featuring Lush specialty cocktails, snack specials and music from Milwaukee’s favorite DJs, on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
De-Lush-ious popcorn
Since 2014, Lush Popcorn’s owners, Marcia and Marc Taylor, have produced some of the best gourmet popcorn in the area, all while upholding their commitment to engaging meaningfully with the community.
Rooted in a love for snacks – and the inability to find the delicious gourmet popcorn flavors they craved in the local market – the brother-sister team initially relied upon pop-ups and event catering to sustain their business. In 2018, they opened their first location, a vendor stall inside the Sherman Phoenix Marketplace.
The new Riverwest location will build on that success, introducing both existing customers and new fans to the popcorn brand in a completely new way.
Additional details about the new location, including official operating hours, are still under wraps. But fans are encouraged to keep an eye on @LushPopcorn on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for additional news about the opening.
Lush Popcorn also remains open at the Sherman Phoenix Marketplace with hours Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Their popcorn is also available for purchase on Saturdays at both the South Shore and Tosa Farmers Markets.
