Milwaukee is the topic of yet another food-based cable network show, which aims to feature iconic Cream City foods, how they are made and the best way to eat them.
A new episode of Travel Channel’s "Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations" – which premieres on Monday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. – will focus on mouthwatering Milwaukee foods like cheese curds, bratwurst, frozen custard and butter burgers from a variety of area venues.
Featured destinations include Clock Shadow Creamery, Kopp’s, Mader’s, Solly’s Grille and three Old World Third Street staples: Uber Tap Room, Usinger’s and Milwaukee Brat House.
"Milwaukee may be known for its beer, but it’s also home to mouthwatering classic American foods," says the synopsis of the show, noting that host Andrew Zimmern will focus on why "this Midwestern city is such a great food town."
Another Milwaukee area restaurant, Jack Pandl’s Whitefish Bay Inn, 1319 E. Henry Clay St., will also be featured in Travel Channel’s related online content.
The show will be rebroadcast on Sept. 8 at 11 p.m., Sept. 14 at 1:30 p.m., Sept. 21 at 8:30 p.m., Sept. 22 at 11:30 p.m. and Oct. 11 at 11:30 p.m.
Lori is an avid cook whose accrual of condiments and spices is rivaled only by her cookbook collection. Her passion for the culinary industry was birthed while balancing A&W root beer mugs as a teenage carhop, fed by insatiable curiosity and fueled by the people whose stories entwine with each and every dish. She’s had the privilege of chronicling these tales via numerous media, including OnMilwaukee and in her book “Milwaukee Food.” Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or recording the FoodCrush podcast, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
