In a season of near-misses and what-could-have-beens, the Marquette womens' basketball team needed a shot in the arm.

Tuesday night, the Golden Eagles got it.

Behind a balanced scoring attack that produced four double-digit scorers, Marquette upset No. 10 Notre Dame, 75-65, at the Al McGuire Center.

"We needed this win," head coach Terri Mitchell said.

The Golden Eagles notched their first-ever victory over a top-10 team thanks to a lights-out shooting performance in the second half. Marquette connected on 15 of 27 shots -- including three three-pointers -- it erased a four-point halftime deficit.

Angel Robinson led the way with 19 points and nine rebounds and Krystal Ellis -- finally back to 100 percent after nursing a sore knee -- added 18. Jessica Pachko scored 14 points and pulled down eight boards.

Marquette's 75 points were a season-high for a Notre Dame opponent.

The Irish lost for the first time in regulation this season and dropped to 14-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big East. Marquette won for the 11th time in 17 tries and is now 2-1 in league play. The Golden Eagles return to action Sunday at Rutgers.
