Summer weather is finally here. The park trails are ready for relaxing yet rejuvenating walks and biking trips. There's gardening around the house to be done. There are festivals and events galore eager to celebrate under the sun. When the weather finally changes, the world seems to open up and offer so many exciting ways to embrace the day.
But then there's also ... literally doing none of that and just continuing to sit on the couch inside and binge away a documentary about "American Gladiators." Also highly recommended as well! And to help you embrace NOT embracing the day and saving those summer pastimes for some other time, Netflix newly announced a batch of fresh movie and TV additions for June.
While new summer blockbusters freshen up the big screens, some classic bombastic favorites ("The Italian Job," the original "Spider-Man" trio, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and "Dunkirk") will all blow up your binge, along with '80s throwback classics like "The Breakfast Club," "Groundhog Day" and "Hook." Looking for some more recent laughs? "Mean Girls" and "We're the Millers" will chuckle onto the streaming service as well. And eagerly awaiting the second "Dune" movie coming up this fall? Why not prep by watching David Lynch's '80s take, now on Netflix. You have less than seven days to prep for the return of the chilling creepout "The Ring" as well as dynamite dramas like "Jarhead" and "Magic Mike." And you can finally finish your Oscars season catch-up with two of the Academy's most recent nominees: the lovely melancholy of the "Ikiru" remake "Living" and the oddly controversial indie character study "To Leslie."
Then, of course, there are the Netflix Originals – including, yes, a documentary about "American Gladiators." (I wasn't making that up!) I'm also not making up another season of the coming-of-age comedy "Never Have I Ever," the sequel to the Netflix explosion-a-thon "Extraction," a fresh batch of "Black Mirror" in case AI art wasn't horrifying and existentially terrifying enough and a second season of "Is It Cake?!", cutting into desserts in disguise and immediately hopping on the zeitgeist and the cultural moment ... of exactly two years ago. Why yes, I will still lazily watch it all in a single Saturday afternoon.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
