Join us on Saturday, July 22 for some lakeside munchies at the second annual OnMilwaukee Food Truck Fest. Choose from a menu of 20 trucks and enjoy the live music, games and entertainment. It's the biggest gathering of the best food on four wheels.
The Starling, the riverfront venue at 102 N. Water St. operated by Ramsey Renno and Tyler Curran of Two Birds Events Group (operators of The Ivy House and Filament), will be opening the city’s first “Pier Garden” on the Riverwalk adjacent to the venue.
The Pier Garden, which is slated to make its debut on Monday, Aug. 1, will feature local brews, clever craft cocktails and a selection of wine along with seasonal charcuterie boards from Tall Guy and a Grill and wood-fired pizzas by Flour Girl & Flame. Both indoor and outdoor seating will be available for guests along the Riverwalk.
The Pier Garden will also host a variety of special events including live music from local guitarist Evan Christian on Friday, Aug. 5 from 7 to 10 p.m. and “Yappy Hour,” a dog-friendly happy hour presented by Fromm on Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will feature giveaways and more in support of Fromm’s Petfest on Sept. 24.

Starting Aug. 1, the Pier Garden at The Starling will be open Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for brunch. The kitchen will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. on weeknights.

Lori is an avid cook whose accrual of condiments and spices is rivaled only by her cookbook collection. Her passion for the culinary industry was birthed while balancing A&W root beer mugs as a teenage carhop, fed by insatiable curiosity and fueled by the people whose stories entwine with each and every dish. She’s had the privilege of chronicling these tales via numerous media, including OnMilwaukee and in her book “Milwaukee Food.” Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or recording the FoodCrush podcast, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
