If you’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying a meal at Sam’s Place Jazz Cafe, 3338 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., consider this to be your official invitation.
The local cafe has partnered with the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County for United We Dine, a special opportunity to enjoy a fantastic meal while supporting both the work of the United Way and Sam’s Place’s commitment to the local community.
United We Dine will take place at Sam’s Place Jazz Cafe on Friday, Sept. 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the event, Sam’s Place will contribute 10% of all proceeds to support United Way’s Reducing Barriers to Employment and Advancement program. The program provides support to adults, assisting them not only with obtaining employment but finding permanent, meaningful work that allows them to care for both themselves and their families.
During United We Dine, guests can enjoy any number of Sam’s Place specialties including their outstanding catfish (available for breakfast with eggs, toast and a choice of rice or grits), shrimp and grits, salmon croquettes, veggie burgers and other sandwiches along with signature espresso drinks made with Abyssinnia Coffee that’s roasted fresh daily right at the cafe.
Parking is available both in the Sam’s Place Jazz Cafe parking lot as well as on the street.
Lori is an avid cook whose accrual of condiments and spices is rivaled only by her cookbook collection. Her passion for the culinary industry was birthed while balancing A&W root beer mugs as a teenage carhop, fed by insatiable curiosity and fueled by the people whose stories entwine with each and every dish. She’s had the privilege of chronicling these tales via numerous media, including OnMilwaukee and in her book “Milwaukee Food.” Her work has garnered journalism awards from entities including the Milwaukee Press Club.
When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or recording the FoodCrush podcast, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
