It's already been a year of shifts for 620 WTMJ, between big names retiring, new voices taking over and a literal shift to a new Downtown location. And now here's one more before year's end, as local media personality Sandy Maxx will become the new co-anchor on "Wisconsin's Afternoon News." 

Beginning this month, Maxx will join current host John Mercure on the radio station's 3-6 p.m. afternoon show. 

“I’m truly thrilled to join John and the entire team as we collaborate and create the next chapters in the station’s evolution,” Maxx said, in a WTMJ announcement. “It is an honor to be chosen to bring my experience to better engage, entertain and serve our fans across multiple platforms.”

Maxx has been a long-time Milwaukee media figure, working with the Bucks and Brewers as a gameday host in the 2000s along with key roles with the Milwaukee Wave and Marquette sports squads. She's no stranger to Milwaukee radio either with stints on 99.1 WMYX and 96.5 WKLH, where she could most recently be heard as the station's regular afternoon host. Maxx also hosts the weekly PBS Milwaukee TV show "The Arts Page," showcasing artists and creators throughout the city for the past decade.

Our fans and partners can expect Sandy to make an entertaining and enlightening addition to 'Wisconsin’s Radio Station,' and we can’t wait for her to get started."

As for getting started, Maxx's first broadcast on "Wisconsin's Afternoon News" will hit the mid-day airwaves on Monday, Dec. 12.
