After a four month hiatus, The Diplomat will be reopening its doors at 815 E. Brady St. on Wednesday, July 28 at 4 p.m.
Chef Dane Baldwin launched the restaurant in August of 2017, gleaning accolades for his work including semifinalist nominations in both 2019 and 2020 for the James Beard Best Chef Midwest award.
And, as the restaurant reopens, guests can look forward to more award-worthy small plates inspired by American regional cuisine, fresh seasonal produce and changing seasons.
For the reopening, Baldwin has assembled a team of industry veterans including Chef Joe Schreiter (formerly of Mistral in Bay View); Chef Andrew Fisher (former chef at Alto-Shaam and Harbor House) and Vince Halpin, an experienced front-of-the-house manager whose most recent work includes a general manager position with Mr. B’s – A Bartolotta Steakhouse in Brookfield. Halpin will also oversee the wine and beverage program at the restaurant.
“The past year has brought us all together and actually strengthened our team,” says Baldwin. “We’re excited to return to in-person dining and can’t wait to create dishes that surprise, delight and excite our guests."
Starting July 28, The Diplomat will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m.
